NC Rush Central Evaluation Format

Our Objective

At NC Rush Central, our goal is to provide every player and their family with a comprehensive post-evaluation assessment. We evaluate players in four key categories:

  • Athletic Ability
  • Technical Skill
  • Tactical Awareness
  • Mentality & Coachability – A combination of psychological traits such as self-discipline, self-belief, competitive drive, and determination.

Post-Evaluation Feedback

Players who attend the first two days of our three-day evaluation process will receive a post-evaluation assessment. This assessment provides:

  • A snapshot of their performance, combining objective testing data with subjective insights from our coaching staff.
  • A recommended player pathway within our organization.
  • A potential offer to join NC Rush Central, if we determine the player and family align with our program’s values and development model.

Why We Provide This Assessment

  1. To give players a clear and objective understanding of their performance in key development areas, helping them improve—whether they join our program or not.
  2. To provide context for players and families about where they currently stand and why we recommend specific pathways.
  3. To establish initial benchmarks for each player joining our program, forming the foundation of their Player Development Plan (PDP).

What is a Player Development Plan (PDP)?

A PDP is an individualized roadmap that begins with a player’s initial evaluation and evolves throughout their youth soccer career at NC Rush Central.

The PDP Defines:

  • Improvement Goals – The key areas a player needs to develop to advance their game.
  • Personalized Training Plan – Specific actions and focus areas for the next 60-90 days.
  • Club Support System – How NC Rush Central will assist the player on their journey, with flexibility to adjust as needed.
  • Progress Checkpoints – Regular meetings to update the PDP and set new goals for continued improvement.

The Benefits of the PDP and NC Rush Central’s Player Development Approach

  • Empowered Players & Families – Players and parents stay informed and actively involved in the development process.
  • Ownership & Accountability – Players learn to evaluate themselves, set meaningful goals, and build self-discipline.
  • Stronger Communication – Clear pathways for players, coaches, and families to collaborate in unlocking a player’s full potential.

Why Does NC Rush Central Do This?

We exist to help players improve in soccer and grow as individuals. Our goal is to use the sport as a vehicle for personal development, equipping young athletes with the skills and mindset to succeed on and off the field.

NC Rush Central Tryout Process

Day 1 & Day 2 - Outdoor

  1. Check In: Opens 45 minutes prior to your session start time.
  2. Introductions: Players are introduced to the evaluating staff and the process for the session.
  3. Warm Up: Players are led in warm ups to prepare for the session.
  4. Technical & Athletic Testing: Players do 1-2 tests for the day.
  5. Game Phase: May be small sided or full sided games. We will use both during the two days because this provides players the opportunity to display their qualities and for evaluators the chance to see very specific levels of ability, skill, awareness and mentality.

Day 3 - Indoor/Futsal

  1. Check In: Opens 45 minutes prior to your session start time.
  2. Introductions: Players are introduced to the evaluating staff and the process for the session.
  3. Warm Up: Players are led in warm ups to prepare for the session.
  4. Small Court Games:  3v3 or 4v4 depending on age and numbers.
  5. Full Court Games: 5v5 or 6v6 depending on age and numbers.
  6. Post Tryout Wrap Up: Closing words to players and parents.
  7. Post Evaluation Feedback: Assessments from Day 1 & 2 are provided to all of the players as they leave the session on Day 3.
  8. Staff Available for Discussion: Specific NC Rush Central staff are available to talk with parents both during and after the session.

Offer to Join

If your player is determined to be a fit for our program you will receive an Offer to Join. This offer will be extended that day/evening of the end of Day 3. In some cases, this offer may be extended before Day 3 (depending on the level of play and specific player pathway being recommended to that player).

Acceptance Window

We ask that all families that receive an offer accept the offer within 24 hours of receiving their offer. This will be done electronically and be confirmed with the payment of your first membership installment of a $200 acceptance fee.

What if I did Day 1 & 2 but couldn't make Day 3?

If you made the first two days we will email you your assessment and be available for phone call or google meet to discuss if needed.

You also may receive an Offer to Join and follow the same protocols as listed above.

What to Bring to Tryouts?

Players Wear:

  1. White shirt
  2. Dark Shorts

During Tryouts

  • Only players are allowed on the field and their water bottles and equipment will be in a players area.
  • Parents will have designated areas to observe the session from a distance should they choose to stay.
  • There will be a parent talk off the side of the field or gym prior to each session. This will take place while players are warming up.
  • Specific NC Rush Central staff will be around the fields and available to talk with parents and answer questions during the session.

At NC Rush Central, we don’t just develop players—we guide them on a pathway to their highest potential.
